Mój ostatni tydzień w MTC (My last week in the MTC!)

Dear Friends and Family,

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE, WSZYSCY!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe the time has finally come?! This is my last time emailing from the MTC! From Utah! FROM AMERICA!! :) I think it's easy to say that I'm just a liiiiittle excited!!

So, I'll start with the big news... WE GOT OUR FLIGHT PLANS!!!!!!!!!! On Monday morning at 4:35 a.m., I will be on my way to POLAND!! We are flying to Houston, Texas first! (Hi, Texas family!! I love you!) Then from there we are flying to Munich, Germany!! (Are you KIDDING me?! SO COOL!!) Then finally.... TO WARSAW, POLAND!!!!!! :) Oh my goodness, I am bouncing off the walls! In 4 days I will be in Poland, preaching this gospel that I LOVE, to the people I have longed to meet since the moment I opened my call on July 10th! There's no way to even describe my excitement (and nervousness), and how absolutely positively blessed I feel. :)

This week has been one of a lot of "lasts" for us Poles! We taught our last lessons to our investigators this week (all 5 of them!) and I wish I could just bottle up the spirit I feel in those lessons and take it with me wherever I go! It is incredible, and I wish all of you could be here with me to see how WONDERFUL the spirit is. We taught our last lesson to Sławek on Tuesday, and he committed to be baptized!!!!! I COULD HAVE HUGGED THAT MAN!!!! We are just so so excited for him!!! We had the most wonderful discussion with him about Faith, and he told us that he wants to act on the faith he has by following the example of Jesus Christ and being baptized! :) And we also taught Karina, and set her baptismal date for January 9th!! Can you believe it?!?! Oh my goodness... Jestem bardzo błogosławiona. :) I just love seeing the spirit touch people's hearts. I've seen the change that this gospel has had on my life, and to see that same change happen in others... That brings me more joy and warms my heart more than I can even say. That feeling just makes everything so worth it. To feel the love of God for these people, to see them realize the love God has for them, to see the spirit touch their hearts... THAT is what my mission is for.

This week, we also had to say goodbye to our teachers. We have said goodbye to Siostra Cheney and Brat Kimball, and on Saturday we will say goodbye to Brat Fotu. It's the worst thing ever! Before we say our goodbye's, our teachers always give us "Rada" or "advice/counsel", and it is always exactly what I need to hear. So, Siostra Cheney's advice was...

1. Look for miracles. (Mormon 9:15) I love this. One thing I have done each day on my mission, is write a couple "tender mercies" or "miracles" that happen each day in a little notebook I have. It is such a blessing at the end of each day to sit down, and reflect on the ways I saw the Lord's hand in my life that day. I KNOW the Lord is with us every day, every minute, and I know His hand is ALWAYS in our lives. We just have to look. :)
2. Declare the world with unwearyingness. (Helaman 10:4, Alma 37:34) I love this advice too. Serving a mission has made me realize that I should NEVER tire of good works. If I am tired, but I am doing something good - that is a BLESSING! :) How TIRED the Savior must have been, but He declared His gospel unceasingly, because He knew the blessings it would bring to those who accepted it. I know those blessings too, so I will declare the word unceasingly, just like my Savior. I am so shy, and have such a hard time approaching people I don't know, but how WONDERFUL will it be, when I can walk up to a random person on the streets of Poland with no fear (in 4 days!), because I KNOW what I am saying is true.
3. Remember the power of your calling. Since the moment I entered the MTC, I don't feel the same without that little black nametag of mine on. There is something about being able to wear the name of my Savior who I love SO MUCH, on my chest each day. Even if we are not missionaries with a little black tag, we are still missionaries! Every member a missionary. Wear the name of Christ on your heart, in everything you do. Yours (yes you) is a DIVINE calling. :)

I just love my teachers. Brat Kimball, before we said our goodbyes, had us sit in a little circle, and bear our testimonies in Polish to each other... It was so wonderful.
The three of them have touched my heart and impacted my testimony more than I could have ever imagined, and I don't know what I would do without them! I am, and always will be, so so grateful for them. I don't think they have any idea how much I love them!

Well, tonight and tomorrow we have devotionals that we will be able to hear from an APOSTLE!! And I think it's safe to say that I am kind of maybe possibly really extremely excited!!!! :D Siostra D is in a special Christmas choir, and she has to learn Silent Night in German (What?! Awesome!) So uhhhh... Obviously I am PRAYING that that means we get to hear from President Uchtdorf!!! But honestly, AN APOSTLE! I'm freaking out! :) I think I'm the luckiest girl in the world to have been able to have Halloween, Thanksgiving, AND Christmas in the MTC, and to still be able to have each of them in Poland next year!! :) My heart is so full. :)

From our devotional on Tuesday, one thing I loved was the saying, "I will be the one." If someone where to tell us all, "Go to your room, and become." What would we do? Who would we become? I've given a lot of thought to that these past few days, and no matter how many different things I think of, it always comes back to one thing... Christ. I would do everything I could to become like Him. He is my biggest example, my constant comfort, and my Savior and Redeemer. It is my biggest hope that that night before the end of my mission, before I leave to come home, I can kneel down in prayer and be comforted, knowing that I did everything I could to come unto Christ. I know that this gospel is a gospel of change, and I know if we accept the Savior, he will change us into exactly who we need to become. :)

I hope you will all keep Him in mind tomorrow during Christmas! Christmas brings out the child in all of us, I think that is part of the reason I love it so much! And how wonderful is it to celebrate this time of year, when the founder was a child Himself. :) I love my Savior, and I know He lives. He loves you, and He is ALWAYS with you.

I love you all, and I hope you have the most WONDERFUL Christmas!!!!! :)

Kocham was!!
I can't wait to email you all next week from POLAND!!! :)
∞, Siostra Kamp
Saying bye to Siostra Cheney :(  We love her!!!!

Last time doing laundry at the MTC! :)

Saying bye to Brat Kimball!  We look a million times happier than we were!  ha ha!

When you find tender mercies, like a flower in the middle of snow. :)

It's all about love!

Dear Friends and Family,

How are you all? :) It is so good to hear from you all each week!! All the letters, DearElder's, emails, packages, and love you send me mean more to me than you know!!

So, I have never realized until this week how LONG my group emails are!! Holy cow! For all of you that actually finish reading them, I am so impressed!! :) I just have so much to tell you all that I tend to just type that email for basically the whole hour that we get! But I am going to try to keep my group emails a little shorter, so it doesn't take your whole entire day just to read through them!! :)

First... umm... okay... I leave to Poland in 11 days!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!! *does a little happy dance* Oh jejku... I am so excited!!! :) We received our MTC checkout lists a few days ago in the mail, and that just made it so much more real for us!! Can you believe that we will be getting our Flight Plans any day now?! I am extra nervous, but extra extra excited to finally be able to be in Poland. Is it possible to be homesick for a place you've never been?? I feel like when I opened my call, my heart just leaped all the way to Poland, and it's still over there, just waiting for the rest of me to get there! :) Being a missionary has given me a new perspective on SO many things. But, one of the most important, I think, is the love God truly has for ALL of His children. It is so wonderful to think of and pray for the Polish people, and automatically love them. I feel it every day. This week I've realized that I believe in love BEFORE first sight! Kind of cool, right? :) But, I think everyone does in a way. If the Prophet were to meet you today, he would probably shake your hand, and tell you he loves you. Would he be lying? No. He really does! He loves you before he even meets you! That is Christlike love. Being able to love someone you don't know. It's also maybe loving someone you do know, despite all their mistakes. All you mom's, you know what it's like! You love your baby, even before you meet them! That is Christlike love. You love your kids, even when they make mistakes! You want them to be happy! That is Christlike love. As a missionary, I think my heart has been opened to that kind of love as I think about the people of Poland. I can't wait to finally be able to meet them. :)

Yesterday we were able to Skype people in Poland again and it was AMAZING! :) Siostra D, Siostra Dekker and I skyped with a man named Romuald! He is so wonderful!! He was just talking to us about President Edgren (my mission president in Poland), what Poland is like, and so many other things! We shared a message about prayer with him, and he kept sharing experience after experience and comment after comment of his testimony of prayer. It was amazing to see the role that prayer has had in his life. This church is true. It brings a peace, joy, and purpose to our lives that nothing else in the world can, and I love it with all my heart. After the call, he messaged us and thanked us for a wonderful talk with wonderful sisters! (in Polish of course!) Isn't that the sweetest? It made us so happy. :) He made us so happy, and it was the perfect start to our day! The Poles are wonderful! :)

It is so wonderful for me, when I get discouraged about the language, to take a step back for a second and think of how far we have come in just 7 weeks! My companions always tell me, "Hey, Siostra Kamp, you came into the MTC 7 weeks ago only knowing how to say 'Hi' and 'Yes' in Polish, and you just had a 40 minute conversation with a native Pole, in Polish, you understand everything your teachers say in class, you teach 9 30-minute lessons a week in Polish.... you are doing just fine." Somehow, whenever I doubt, or get discouraged, the Lord always finds a way to show me, "Hey, you know enough." I know He is always here to help me, and He really has been the one lifting me up this whole time. I feel His spirit everyday, and I am so grateful to be a missionary. "Nie Bój się, tylko wierz." "Krok po kroku." That's become my new favorite phrase. :) "Be not afraid, only believe." and "Step by step" :)

Well, I'm trying to keep this short, so I'll tell more next week! Here's a few extra side notes....

*Siostra Barney sleep talks. All the time. It is HILARIOUS!! The other night, it was exactly 5:00 in the morning and she abruptly sits up in bed, folds her arms, and says, "We can say this!!" and starts praying in Polish!! We were all so creeped out! ha ha! Then after the prayer was over, she laid back down and Siostra Lerch said, "Siostra Barney... Are you awake?" and Siostra Barney said, "Yeah I'm awake!" all mad-like, because she was mad that no one had said Amen to her prayer because we had all "fallen asleep" during it! ha ha ha. Oh man. It was great. :)

*We hosted new missionaries this week!! Whoooooo!!! It was so fun to reassure them how amazing the MTC is after their families drop them off, and just really help them have a great first impression of the MTC! :)

Well, I have to go, but I will talk to you soon!!

I know this church is true. This week I've realized that if I really focus on being the kind of person Jesus is, I will never have to ask myself, "What would Jesus do?" or "If Christ was here, what would He say to this person" because... It will just be a part of who I am. Being always preceeds doing. And I need to start asking myself the question, "Who would Christ BE?" instead of "What would Christ DO?" It's my new goal to study one Christlike attribute each week, and really try to work on developing that attribute that week. :) I'll let you know how that all goes! :)

T-minus 11 days until my dream comes true!! Whooohoooo!! :)
I love the gospel of Jesus Christ that I have the opportunity to share with the Polish people! It's kind of like... when you find a really good song, and you just want to show it to EVERYONE you see. That's how I feel about this gospel, but times infinity! I love it with all my heart, and know that there is no where else in the world I should be right now than right here. :) I have personally seen how the gospel changes lives. It changed my own, and I KNOW without a doubt, that it can touch hearts and change lives in a way that nothing else can. I love it. It is true. It is as real as you and I. It is profound, yet simple, and it is the way to everlasting peace and happiness. In this life, and the life to come.

Have an amazing week, everyone!! Find someone to serve. :) It is the Christmas season, after all. :)

Kocham was bardzo!!

Super Fajny Ectra Bombovy Aplus! (Super Awesome Great Thebomb.com A+!)

Dear Family and Friends,
If you can't tell from the title... THIS WEEK WAS AMAZING! The title is something Polish people say when something is just FANTASTIC! (Soo-pear fine-ih ets-trah bahm-boh-vih ah-ploos) It literally means "Super Awesome Great Thebomb.com A+!" ha ha! I love it. :)
So, sad news first! Our Bulgarians and Croatians all left this week for the field! They are all in their countries by now!! How crazy is that? It was a hard goodbye, they were like our family! But I can't wait to see all they accomplish, and I know they will touch hearts with their amazing testimonies! I can't even rap my head around the fact that in 18 days I will be on my way to Poland!! OH MY WORD! I am so excited!

Well, this week Siostra D and I received a calling to be the music coordinators! Whaaaat? :) I'm really excited! It's a fun calling, because we basically just find someone to do a musical number each Sunday in Sacrament meeting, teach people how to lead, and pick the hymns/choristers for Sacrament as well! It's been a lot of fun so far. :)

Also, WE HAVE A NEW COMPANION!!!! We officially adopted cute Siostra Dekker into our companionship this week! :) We are seriously so excited to have her. She is the cutest thing ever, and is always so happy! We love her so much!

On December 6th, we celebrated SinterKlaas, which is basically the Dutch version of Santa Claus! Siostra D's cute mom served her mission in the Netherlands, and they have celebrated Sinterklaas for as long as Siostra D can remember, so this year (even though she is away from her family) was no exception! We all left our shoes outside our door, and waited for Sinterklaas to leave us little chocolate coins in them over night! :) Siostra D told us the whole story of Sinterklaas before we went to bed, and it was so much fun!! I loved it! And guess what? HE CAME! It was a blast :) I'll send pictures!

Oh! Also, yesterday I received a bunch of cute Christmas cards from the women in my relief society, and it completely made my day! Thank you all sooo much!! I seriously have the best ward family in the world. :)

Okay, this week's tender mercy!!!! It was Monday, and our Bulgarian Elder's were leaving that night! So, Elder Brown and Elder Sperry wanted Siostra D and I to wear our twinning outfits as a "going away present" for them so we could all take a twinning picture! I don't even know, Elder's are so weird! ha ha! But it turned out to be a total blessing because GUESS WHAT! We were eating lunch, and the general manager said, "Sisters!" and called Siostra D and I over to him. We thought we were in trouble for something! So we go over and he pulls out his phone from his pocket, puts it up to his ear and says, "Yeah, I found 'em. They're not hard to miss!" We were so scared! And then he just laughed and told us he liked our matching outfits! :) He asked us where we were going, and talked to us for a little bit, then he said, "You know what? I want you to do something for me! Go get the other Polish sisters!" So we did, then he had us write our Mom's phone numbers on a napkin, and then he took us out in the hall, took a picture of us, and texted it to our mom's! It was seriously so great!! BUT it gets better. We came back for dinner, and guess what it was? CHICK-FIL-A!!! Holy cow. Best day ever, right? NOPE, it still gets better. The general manager came and found us again, then told all of us to come with him, so we did, and he ended up taking us back into the kitchen! We were so confused! But, he took us back into the freezers and gave all of us CHICK-FIL-A PEPPERMINT SHAKES!! Are you serious? Best day!! Then we got to read the replies our mom's sent to him, and it was just the best. :)

Our investigators are doing so wonderful! Karina is going to be baptized this month!! Can you believe it?! I am just so excited. :) She has a faith that I admire, and her love for the Lord is so obvious in all she says and does. Sławek is doing wonderful too! We were finally able to get him to pray, and the moment he did, the spirit filled the room. The gospel is SO true. I know it with everything I am. I find so much joy in learning and teaching this gospel every day! It makes me so happy, and I can't imagine anything I would rather be doing! We also have our other two investigators, Allison and Bill, that we taught this week as well! Allison is so anxious to learn more about the gospel each time we teach her, and it is amazing to see her progression in just 2 weeks! Bill is a little more resistant, but I know he felt the spirit in our last lesson so strongly, because he told us he would pray without us even asking! We also are now teaching a less-active member! His name is Leszek, and he is so wonderful!! We have only had one lesson with him, but man, the spirit was so strong! He actually cried! My goodness... The spirit was amazing! Often times I don't have the words to describe what happens to our investigators in our lessons, but it is incredible. The spirit touches their hearts in a way that we never could, and it is wonderful to see. I noticed I say "wonderful" a lot in my emails... But, you know what... THIS GOSPEL IS WONDERFUL!!!! :) We love our investigators so much!!

Okay, two more things real quick! So... Yesterday we were able to Skype with the cutest lady FROM POLAND! She lives IN POLAND, and is a member! But we were able to Skype her, give her a little lesson on Faith, and just talk to her! It was such an amazing experience!! It also made me realize how much I really really need to rely on the Lord to help me with this language! I'm super stubborn sometimes, and like to think that I can do things on my own, but I can't. This isn't my work, this is the Lord's! I don't teach people, the spirit does! And I really needed to be reminded of that this week! I was really struggling with Polish yesterday, and kept getting down on myself for not being as good as I want to be. But then I had a thought... "Thank you for loving me enough to cut me down." Have you all seen that amazing mormon message video called "The Will Of God"? If you haven't, I seriously recommend watching it! Because in that moment that I was so down, wondering if I would ever be able to do this, I thought of that phrase, the video played in my mind, and I couldn't help but be so thankful to the Lord for loving me enough to cut me down. I KNOW with all my heart that He is there. That He is always watching out for us, and that He would NEVER give us anything we couldn't handle and He isn't willing to do with us. Phillippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me." Yes, the language is extremely difficult sometimes, but I take a step back, and I think... I have only been learning Polish for 6 weeks, and I just had a 30 minute conversation with a native Pole, and not only was I able to understand her, but I was able to reply to her as well! And then I think, wow, the Lord really is helping me. There is NO way I couldn't done that by myself. :) I am SO grateful for the opportunity I had to Skype Ola!! (the lady in Poland!) She is so sweet!! :) She asked us how long until we will be in Poland and we said 19 more days and she screamed and just kept telling us how excited she was to meet us and for us to get there.... IT WAS AMAZING! :) I can't WAIT to get to Poland. :) I'm so blessed!

Okay last thing real quick! So, Siostra D and I led our District Meeting on Sunday, and since it was the first Sunday of December, we decided to focus on Jesus Christ! We watched the new "A Savior Is Born" video (In Polish!) and then read the story of the birth of Christ in the Bible (Luke)! I don't know if you all have seen the papers you can print off that say, "He was born so I...", but they are so great! You can print them off, fill them out, and post them on social media, and it really invites the true spirit of Christmas. :) Anyway, we did that activity, and made a list of reasons the Savior was born. It was SUCH a wonderful activity, and really made me think about our Savior, Jesus Christ. Some of the ideas we came up with were:

"The Savior was born so I..."
-can have a second chance when I make mistakes
-can be with my family forever
-can be reborn
-can overcome death
-can receive a fullness of joy
-can have unlimited potential
-can be a missionary

I love this time of year, being able to focus completely on the Savior, and all that he has done for us. I just want to bear my testimony of Jesus Christ. I know He is my Savior, your Savior, and our Savior. He is the Son of God, and He lives. I know He was born, so we can live. I know that He suffered, bled, and died for us. He knows each one of us, personally. He has felt every joy, every sadness, every trial, and every hardship we will ever feel, because of His Atonement. I can't imagine how I must have felt, looking down on Him from Heaven as He suffered for my sins. I imagine I must have had tears streaming down my face, as I whispered "I'm sorry" for the sins I hadn't yet committed, but knew I would... And I know the Savior saw my face as He suffered for what I would do, and as if to comfort me he probably said, "I'm doing this because I love you." I know that Jesus Christ is my brother, and He loves me. He loves YOU. I can't wait for the day when I am able to hug Him, and thank Him for all He has done for me. It's because of Him, that I don't have to be perfect. But it's also through Him, that I can be. I love him so much.

Keep Him in your mind this Christmas season. "Perhaps," thought the Grinch, "Christmas doesn't come from a store. Perhaps Christmas means a little bit more." :)

I love you all so much, and can't thank you enough for all the love and support I feel from you each week! Being a missionary is the most wonderful thing in the world!! :) This gospel is true!

Have an amazing week!!
Kocham was bardzo!!
Do Zobacenia!

Jestem bardzo blogoslawiony { I am very blessed }

Dear Friends & Family,

I have SO much to tell this week!! Holy cow!
Well, this week has been kind of a roller coaster for us Poles.  I'll start with our not so good story first.
I'm sure you remember how I talked about the Priesthood blessing Starzsy gave to one of our Sister's that was very sick. Well, that Siostra was our Siostra Yochim, and she has been very very ill... I won't go into detail about her illness, but this Sunday we were informed by our Branch Presidency (after many visits to the hospital) that God had a little bit of a change of plans for our Siostra Yochim. She returned to California yesterday afternoon, and will be able to get the medical attention she needs. This was very hard for us as a district, because we have just grown to love Siostra Yochim sooo much. But after all is said and done, our testimonies have grown so much, and we know that the Lord has a plan for Siostra Yochim. He loves her so much. She touched our hearts in the way she needed to, and I have no doubt the Lord knows exactly what He is doing. She will touch the hearts of everyone she meets, and I know without a doubt that she will walk the streets of Poland. She is absolutely amazing. Kochamy cię bardzo, Siostra!!

So, that was our little bump in the road, but we love her with all our hearts!

This past week we had THANKSGIVING! Whoo!! It was the most wonderful day, and a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. I absolutely loved it! I told you all that we would be able to hear from an Apostle from the Quorum of the Twelve, and you will nevvver guess who it was!! Okay, maybe you will, but I will tell you anyway. ELDER DALLIN H. OAKS!!! Oh my goodness, I was jumping up and down! He is my favorite! :) His talk was so amazing, and the spirit was incredible in that room. I look up to Elder Oaks and the other General Authorities so much. They are such Christ-like examples in all they do. Elder Oaks made us feel so wonderful about ourselves when he said, "I'm an Apostle with an uppercase A. You're an apostle with a lowercase a! You are an extension of the hand of the Lord in all you do. Never forget that!" How amazing is that? It made my want to be the best missionary I can be.

One other special surprise that we had on Thanksgiving was... AMAZING. Okay. MOM! (and everyone else) GUESS WHO CAME TO OUR DEVOTIONAL?! JENNY OAKS BAKER!!!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness... I was fan-girling soooo badly!! For those of you who don't know who she is, she is my IDOL violinist. I have an autographed CD of hers, have gone to her concerts, and have basically just fan-girled over her forever. As previously stated! :) But did you know that she is Elder Oaks daughter?! Yeah, me either!!! So she played her violin in the devotional and I was almost in tears! From both excitement, and the spirit that it brought. Elder Oaks and Jenny Oaks Baker- I couldn't imagine a better devotional!

After the devotional, we had the opportunity to watch the movie 17 miracles, and that was incredible!! I don't think I have ever been more touched by a movie in my life. I highly recommend watching that! Then after, we were able to participate in the most amazing humanitarian project! I've heard from several of you that you were able to read about it in the paper! It was amazing! :) We were able to make over 357,000 meals for families in need. It was INCREDIBLE. We made over 357,000 meal bags, and each meal bag can feed up to 8 people! It was amazing. I felt so blessed to have the opportunity to be such a helping hand in the lives of my brothers and sisters in need.

And the cherry on top of the ice cream of thanksgiving was... THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS! They finally turned on the Christmas lights, and it looks like we have our own little temple square right outside. :) We couldn't help but be so happy! :) We also have our "dom" (apartment... but we just call it "house" in polish!) decorated for Christmas! It is the best room on the entire campus. I love it so much! I will send pictures!

Now, onto a more spiritual side of things! One of our investigators, Karina, committed to be baptized next month!! Oh my goodness, the spirit in our lesson when she committed to act on her faith in Jesus Christ and be baptized as he was... it was amazing. I was so teary! I know that the Karina we are teaching is just my teacher acting as Karina, but Karina was a real person that my teacher taught while on her mission in Poland. It doesn't feel like I am teaching my teacher, it feels like I am really teaching Karina, and I have grown to love the Karina in Poland so much. I can't wait to meet her. I know that this gospel is true. It touches people in a way, and helps them in a way that nothing else can. And I KNOW that it is true.

How incredible is this gospel? How lucky am I to be in such an amazing place, learning more about the gospel that I love with my whole heart, preparing to go to a place that I have never been to but am already homesick for? I'm the luckiest girl in the world. I really am! I love this gospel so much, and my testimony of it is so strong. I know that if we even have the desire to believe, and we act on that, the Lord will bless us with a knowledge of the truthfulness of this gospel. This gospel is true, and I love you! All of you! :)

I'll talk to you more next week!
Kocham was!

∞,
Siostra Kamp
